Wave's Season Draws to a Close
By: Jordan Alvarez
Gallatin sent three golfers to to the district tournament on Monday September 29th to try and advance past the region into the state tournament where the competition is much more fierce. The golfers were: Zack Baker, Morgan Durham, and Robin Schultz. They played a solid 18 holes only to find that the competition was just a little too tough this go round. Coach Steve Duke said, "In order to play with the big dogs at the state level, you've got to be the best and you've got to want it. You've got to seperate yourself from the ones who golf, to establish yourself as a golfer." This year's team was unfortunately not championship material yet Coach commented that it was a very successful year on the coarse. They had some tough battles on distant coarses and played a lot of new players with fresh talent in the matches and still had a winning season.
Preparations for the '09 season next year are already underway with players personally taking up the responsibility to critique their skills in the game of golf. Coach Duke has high expectations of next year's team |
